“Tell Me a Lie” is one of the songs in the album by One Direction. It is a sad song which explains the feelings of a guy whose girlfriend is about to leave him for some other guy. The guy is truly in love with his girlfriend and does not want her to leave him for another guy. He is trying all that he can do to stop her from leaving him.

In the first paragraph of the song he says that he is trying his level best and also putting up a fight to prevent her from leaving him. Whatever he is doing her words cut them with her fierce defensive word. He says he is tired of her breaking his heart once again. In the first paragraph of the song itself it is clear that his girlfriend has been cheating on him and again she has done so.

The boy asks her girlfriend to make any excuse for leaving her than telling him that she is missing some other guy. He is ready to take up anything about himself like he is a person who is totally a mess or the one who does not listen to her or she does not like the way he kisses her or even that she needs to have some space of her own. He is ready to accept any lie but not the fact that she is leaving him for another guy. He wants to fake up a story for their break up rather than giving a reason of someone else as her soul mate.

The boy even describes his feelings for her and what is that attracts him towards her. He says that she is charming and the twinkle in her eyes brings joy in his life and keeps him wanting for her more and more. He says that the smile that adorns her face was brought by his presence some time ago. He begs that there is a lot that is left between him and her and should think of all those beautiful moments that they have spent together before she leaves him.

In short the song is about a guy who knows that his relationship with his girlfriend was on rocks and that there was nothing left for him to do to prevent her from leaving him. He has tried his best and does not know what more should he do to protect his relationship from falling apart. He knows that there is no reason other than that she has got another guy that she is leaving him. He almost begs her to tell him a lie rather than telling him that she is leaving him for another guy. He cannot take up the fact that the smile which used to be on her face due to his presence is now due to someone else whom she likes now. He is not ready to take up the situation which shows that he is not the one who will keep her happy anymore and that she finds happiness in someone else.
