Meaning of What Makes You Beautiful

“What makes you beautiful” is one of the songs in the music album of One Direction which also received the Brits Award for best British singles. The song is beautiful and has a very sweet message for a girl who feels that she is not beautiful and is ignorant about her true beauty which is admired by her lover.
In the first paragraph of the song lyrics describes a girl who feels insecure about her looks. She thinks she is not presentable. She feels that she does not have anything which can be of interest to any boy. Hence she is not very confident about herself and chooses to avoid any meeting with the boy who actually loves her the way she is.

The boy who has a crush on the girl seems to see the whole thing in a different way. For him she is perfect and has all the things that a guy needs. In his eyes she is the perfect match for her to be his girlfriend.  According to him she does not need to wear any make up to look beautiful as for him he thinks she is perfect the way she is.

The boy, however, knows that the girl is not very confident about her looks and he tries to make her confident by encouraging her. He tries to convince her that she is just perfect in the way she looks. He wants her to see herself as he visualizes her. While trying to make her confident he also wishes that his feelings towards her will be responded in a positive manner.

The song is targeted for the teenagers who face such kind of feelings. The teenagers are often very insecure about their looks, personality and their overall appearance. The song here wants to make all such teenagers feel that it’s not the outer beauty that matters but the inner beauty which makes the difference the most. Most of the teenagers actually visualize themselves like their idols and in doing so they feel that they should look like them in their physical appearance. However, when they fail to do so, they get disappointed and lose their self-confidence.

The song aims to tell the teenagers and all those having low confidence about them that the physical appearance can attract someone towards them but it is the inner beauty that leaves a long lasting impression. Do not go by your outer appearance as it can be deceptive. Try to make your inner self beautiful which also will make you look beautiful from outside. It is a beautiful song which must be heard by everyone especially teenagers to recognize their true beauty.
